It's been the Advent Hump Day, which means we're now in the joyful position of being as close to Christmas as we are to St Andrew's Day. Our advent candle is starting to look like a normal size (it was rather large to begin with!) and Clemency announced today that she is down to single figures of work days between now and the end of term.
All that said, today has been rather "normal" and we have just been getting on with the things that we've been prioritising over the past few days.
Picture 1, 2, 3 and 4: All taken on our dog walk up at Newtonhill Croft this morning. We're having very interesting weather at the moment: it feels freezing, but it's actually quite warm. The last purple heather caught our eyes, as did the colourful hedge and the single stem of grass.
Picture 5: I am getting very excited at the prospect of the Railway Room being finished. So much so, in fact, that I created a list of things that need doing on certain days. This is me looking very pleased with it!
Pictures 6, 7 and 8: The progress in the Railway Room may look slow, but I'm actually rather chuffed with it!
Pictures 9 and 10: One of the most exciting things to have happened today was going to pick the Christmas tree. The light was very festive as the sun had set and the beautiful Cheshire Cat moon was grinning down on us. We arrived at Caithness Building Supplies and were guided to our tree: "as soon as I saw this one," the gentleman said, "I thought 'I know who this belongs to'". How incredibly kind! And absolutely spot on! They also delivered it (free of charge) ten minutes later!!!
Picture 11: Did we mention that our pup is seriously wild?!
Picture 12: We all had a lovely surprise when this arrived in the post today. This is the PhD thesis by our sister, Lydia, who worked her socks off over a period of several years to get this done. We're hoping that she will graduate with me and Ginny in September 2019, but she's actually already Doctor Lydia. We are super-proud!!
