What will Caroline bring next? |
A few of our good deeds are storm related, so we'll start with those.
- J rescued a wheelie-bin which was making its way across the road and secured it so it wouldn't roll out again.
- On the same trip (we'd just taken Orlando to the groomer's), J closed our neighbour's garden gate. They have a dog and we had already heard of one stray dog, we didn't want to hear of another.
- On the subject of dogs - it's true, Orlando runs our lives! - we braved the storms to make sure that Orlando got his walk. It's too easy to ignore the fact that pets need certain things, just because we don't. But no, we ventured twice around the dog loop, throwing the frisbee with amazing results!
- Choosing care and safety over money is paramount and, to that end, I wrote around all my pupils to make sure they knew they didn't have to attend lessons today. The storm has made travel precarious at best. When we dropped Orlando off at the groomer's, I was certain the car was going to blow over!
- A final storm-affected good deed was that we took a parcel down to the Post Office so (somewhat stubborn) Dad didn't have to brave the storm. He's sure he can do all these things himself, but sometimes we have to be firm!
The next two were not to do with the storm but were good deeds through charity and goodwill. - After seeing an appeal from the Salvation Army on social media C donated to them. They have a heavy presence at Christmas time, and with good cause: it's easy to say we remember those with nothing at Christmas, but a lot harder to face up to doing something about helping them.
- Finally, we wrote Christmas cards to all the successful authors in The Crowvus Christmas Spirit book - they created fantastic stories which we loved reading, it was only fair to send an appreciative message!
I have to be honest, I'm struggling on the good deed register. I'm hoping that over the weekend I can clock up as many as J & C. Watch this space...
